Lost luggage realization
Since my luggage has been gone for twelve days, I thought I’d go through the AirFrance facebook page and read other people’s complaints. If I can say nothing else decent about the lost luggage/dealing with AirFrance and Delta incompetency, I can say this: I just discovered that I can understand every single French complaint on the site without having to use a translator! Guess the...

"The rings of Saturn are composed entirely of lost...
And mine happens to be there. This is the first time I’ve ever had to deal with lost luggage, and while most people would say, “Good for you! We’ve never been that lucky!” most people’s…comes home eventually. The airline doesn’t seem to think that mine will.
My luggage has been gone for almost a week now, and I’m starting to freak out about...

Home is wherever I'm with you.
It’s currently 5:15 in the morning, and as expected, the time zone differences keep me from sleeping. Which means this is the perfect time to explain about my adventures home…
As much as I loved Paris, I was definitely ready to come home. As beautiful as the city of lights was, as much as I loved the culture and eating Laduree macarons for lunch (no gluten-free...

Paris, Day 4: Louvre + Musee Cluny →
The Louvre is one of those places that’s impossible to describe. They say a picture’s worth a thousand words, so I can only imagine the amount of words that the artwork in the Louvre is worth. The link above will show you what I chose to visit in the Louvre. I only saw the Mona Lisa because I accidentally backed into the crowd around it, then flew under the crowd of tall people and...

Versailles
Today, I got the chance to visit Versailles. I wanted to make sure that I got the full Versailles experience, so I bought my metro ticket the day before and set out early so that I can could get on the RER C without any problems. The trip to Versailles requires a special kind of metro ticket because it goes out of zones 1-3, which is what a normal metro ticket covers.
I took the...

The Train to Paris
This morning, I took the train to Paris, not knowing quite what to expect. I’ve been looking forward to being in Paris for some time, but I’m not the biggest fan of trains. The view is incredible, and I know they’re safe and everything, but they make me really dizzy. Therefore, I was a little nervous about what to expect.
After saying goodbye to my host...

Final Day in Brest
The past couple of days have been spent beginning to pack and get things prepared for my trip to Paris. Even though I haven’t bought that much, things are not fitting quite as well in the suitcase as they did when I first arrived.
Since it was my last day in Brest, however, I decided that I should get out of the house and do something fun today as a break from packing....

Adventures in Quimper
Yesterday, I took a high-speed train for the first time and went to a beautiful town called Quimper. Quimper is known for its architecture and cathedrals, so I knew that I was in for a treat.
Much to my surprise, not many people were on the train, so I got a seat for myself and a seat for my stuff—now if only I could get that lucky for my train to Paris! When I got off the train in...

Being sick = me planning out my entire trip to Paris. Any suggestions or tips for me? I’ll be there from the afternoon of July 13th to the morning of the 20th, and I know for sure that the 14th will be spent at the Defiler and surrounding Champs-Elysees area. Beyond that, I only have ideas as to what I want to do. Opinions on what’s overrated/must be done? Also, if you know of any...

Plougastel
Yesterday I went to a town called Plougastel, at the suggestion of my host mom Julie. Plougastel is about an hour bus ride away from where I am, and on Thursday mornings, they have an open market (a marché) with different types of vendors. I managed to map out the location, find the bus route all on my own, and make it to Plougastel in one piece (though that bus made me wonder for a few minutes...

– Anna and the French Kiss, pg. 348 Kindle Edition
…and also a good summary of my past couple days.
annaophelia asked: If you're going to be in Paris for an extended time, there's apparently a fair at the Tuileries Gardens. We haven't been yet (the day we tried to go, it was 20 euro entrance fee because it was opening night). But it looks SO FUN.
lialaul asked: Well, there is one thing I LOVE to do in the summer : "La récré des 3 curés". It's an amusement park. It's great, no matter how old you are! But it's better when the weather is nice...

Out of the mouths of babes..
The past few days, I haven’t really taken the time to post. This was the last week of class for me, so I spent my time trying to make the most of it. Our professor for the week, Patrick, was from Belgium, and like Michael, he really focused on us speaking more than grammar or writing. On Thursday, we said goodbye to Shin, one of the girls from China, and then Jamie and I finished on...

Random musings
In French class today, we learned that “blesser” means to injure, not to bless. Gives the phrase “bless your heart” a whole new meaning, doesn’t it?
